Infrastructure Build-Out Project

  • Preliminary Engineering Design
The initial step in the technology infrastructure build out process is the preliminary engineering design phase. Working with Stage 1 consultants, each campus developed a preliminary engineering design in accordance with the CSU Telecommunications Infrastructure Planning (TIP) Guidelines, Minimum Baseline Infrastructure Standards and Infrastructure Quality Standards.

  • Stage 1: Construction of Spaces and Pathways, and Installation of IntraBuilding Media (to be posted)
The CSU capital outlay program will cover construction of all new and remodeled communications spaces as well as the pathways between state buildings and within them. It will also cover placement and termination of the media – both fiber optic and copper – in the interbuilding pathways. Because of capital funding limitations, however, inter-building media will need to be finance for the Stage 1 contract from Stage 2 resources.

  • Stage 2: Design and Installation of Network Electronics and InterBuilding Media
Design, installation, maintenance and refresh of network systems (as well as acquisition of the media to be installed between campus buildings) will be covered in Stage 2 of the build-out and will be coordinated on a system wide basis. It is planned that Stage 2 will be financed from system and campus operating funds.

  • Infrastructure Terminal Resources Project (ITRP) - RFP (pdf)

  • ITRP Design Toolkit

  • ITRP Training Program

  • Network & Technology Alliance (NTA)
Stage 2 policies and procedures are developed by the Network & Technology Alliance. The NTA is composed of network managers from the 23 CSU campuses who meet periodically to address issues related to planning & implementation of Stage 2.

  • SBC, Systems Integrator
In order to implement Stage 2 on a system wide basis, the CSU has engaged the services of SBC Datacomm. SBC Datacomm will be responsible for providing design, engineering, deployment, operational, support and contract & administrative services.
